Book 45: Ringworld
Well, once again I have failed to finish a book on my list. Ringworld by Larry Niven is a 1970 sci-fi novel that follows Louis Wu and his team as they head off into space to determine the nature of the Ringworld. The ring in question is a large rotating structure in space encircling a star.
My understanding was that this novel, which won the 1971 Locus Award for Best Novel, was a classic and so I was excited to read it. Unfortunately I just couldn’t get into it. The pacing was too slow for me and the style of writing just wasn’t for me either. It just wasn’t a book I could get into.
I really tried to push myself to read it, but, in the end, decided to just put it down and move on.
We’ll see how I fare with the next book on my list, To Your Scattered Bodies Go.
